Frequently asked questions

Depending on the chosen model, the finish of the ring varies. This means that the ring can look smooth, matt or even completely different. Applying the finish is the last but one step in the manufacturing process. This takes place in the polishing department. Each ring is finished by hand. The surface of the material is literally ‘handled’ to obtain het best result.

The ring is nice and smooth. The material is like a mirror and reflects the light.

The ring has a matt appearance and does not reflect the light. This visual effect is created by using a special brush to sand minute lines in the surface. This technique is also applicable in various directions. As such, we distinct transversal, longitudinal, crossed and diagonal.

The ring has a matt appearance and does not reflect the light. It looks like minute lines crisscrossing each other. This visual effect is created by using a special brush to sand the surface of the ring.

The ring has a matt appearance and does not reflect the light. The surface of the ring has an extremely fine granular structure. This structure is created by sandblasting the material of the ring.

This depends on the material of your ring. In case of a soft material, such as gold, palladium and silver, the brushed, satin and hammered finish will slowly fade through wear. This will make the ring more shiny. The polished finish will persist the longest. Platinum, titanium and high-quality steel rings are harder, allowing for a long-lasting, visible finish. Signs of wearing the ring such as scratches are inevitable for all the different finishes.

Please visit your jeweller because reapplying the finish is possible for nearly all the rings. Except for the black steel ring. It is absolutely impossible the change something to your black steel ring once it has been finished.

The ring has a matt appearance and does not reflect the light. It looks like minute little holes crisscrossing each other. This effect is created by using a special tool brush that knocks on the surface of the ring. We have different forms of such a hammered finish. Either very fine or very distinctive and rough.

The ring has an organic look. Some parts are polished, some have a satin finish or are rough. The effect is created by a different manufacturing process whereby the precious metal is poured into a mould.  Such a mould is handmade by our goldsmith designer. This is also referred to as lost wax casting.

The Traditions collection allows you to choose from 4 different finishes for each Traditions ring. The AMICI-box allows you to choose from polished or matt. Would you like a specific ring finish from one of our other collections? Please visit your jeweller. First we need to check whether it is technically possible to achieve what you are asking. We do this in consultation with our goldsmiths and production manager. This is what we call a ‘special’.
